I have a quick little visualisation activity for you all to do right now, it won’t take long…
Close your eyes. Now picture yourself aboard one of the largest sea vessels operating out of Geraldton, cruising out to sea to visit some of Australia’s most spectacular Islands just 70kms off our coastline.
You will bear witness to superb wildlife, both in the sea, on land and in the skies, which all call this place home. The rich history of the area will not only overwhelm you, but leave you feeling a sense of wonderment that this place is so close to home.
You will eat some of the freshest seafood that you ever will eat in your life and have your own Deluxe Stateroom with Ensuite to retire to, ensuring you are refreshed for the next day’s adventures which may include diving, snorkelling and fishing.
Sounds pretty great, right?
The Eco Abrolhos is that very sea vessel, and you can experience all of this and a whole lot more aboard her.
As you all know, a 5 Day Abrolhos Island Tour aboard the Eco Abrolhos is included as part of Indah’s Christmas Competition Package. I know you’re all dying to know what this is all about, so I’ve been lucky enough to have a chat to Jay Cox of Eco Abrolhos to suss out this amazing prize!
The team on the Eco Abrolhos have been living on and working around the Abrolhos Islands for more than 30 years, so have an extensive knowledge of the 122 islands and all they have to offer.
This tour will showcase everything the Abrolhos islands are famous for – wildlife, snorkelling, the history and fishing to name just a few.
All of your meals are provided whilst aboard Eco Abrolhos, prepared fresh by the on-board professional chef, including seafood that has been caught during your days at sea. Can’t get much fresher than that!
Tours of Latitude and Pelsart Pearl Farms will show you exactly where your beautiful Abrolhos pearls come from, along with the long process of farming pearls. You will also get an insight into the cryfishing industry as these two islands are shared by both crayfishermen and the pearl farmers.
If weather permits you may also get the opportunity to snorkel or dive the Batavia which was wrecked on her maiden voyage over 400 years ago. If not, there will be plenty of other wonderful opportunities for snorkelling and diving over the 5 days.
Beach and island walks, bird watching or a spot of fishing if you’re that way inclined will ensure you have a chance to relax and unwind.
Jay and the team have a great respect and understanding of the balanced eco system that is the Abrolhos Islands and are very committed to ensuring it is conserved for generations to come. There should be no evidence, bar the footprints of tourists, left behind whilst treading lightly and being aware of how you treat this delicate environment.
For the first time, Eco Abrolhos are offering an Abrolhos Island tour to see in the New Year this December.
So if you’re feeling a little frazzled after the craziness that is the festive season, why not treat yourself to a well-earned break! This tour will depart on December 28th, returning after seeing in 2015 in style and class on January 1st. An amazing Christmas gift for someone special perhaps?!
If you would like to book a tour or learn more about the tours that are available, as well as dates, head over to ecoabrolhos.com.au or give Jay and the team a call on 99645101.
Now I’m off to add an Abrolhos Island Tour to my (rapidly expanding!)Christmas list!
